My first liquid lip - NYX Lip Lingerie Lipstick

NYX lingerie
The current trend for matt lips has moved into liquid lipsticks with an array of dark nudes reminiscent of the lip colours from the 90's. Have you seen all the hype around the Kylie (Jenner) lip kits? I wanted to try one but there's no way I would a, wait up until midnight to place an order for the next release of the Lip Kits or b, pay the shipping and customs fees from the US and c, wait weeks and weeks for its arrival.

However, NYX Cosmetics has recently come over to the UK and is available through a few beauty websites, Boots being one of them.  Some of the larger Boots also have a NYX stand and hopefully these will increase to other stores soon.

NYX is an affordable but very on trend range of cosmetics and I'd seen their Lip Lingerie liquid lipstick featured a few times on various Instagrams and to me it looked quite similar to the Kylie lip kit, so I placed an order for 04 Ruffle Trim, a browny nude, online and collected it 2 days later at my local Boots.

I've never worn a liquid lipstick before, nor really a matt lipstick (apart from the disappointing L'Oreal lip pen which I posted about here.  The NYX Lip Lingerie applies really nicely and is buildable so you decide how dark you want to go. The lipstick applies almost like a gloss but then becomes matt very quickly. It looks really lovely on the lips and doesn't stick or highlight any dry patches.

This liquid lipstick is ridiculously long-lasting. I'm talking all day long and it looks the same as when you first applied it. I do chicken out a bit because I'm not used to wearing such a matt lip, so I apply this and then a slick of the Gosh Lip Oil on top (blog post here). On me, with the lip oil, this looks like a nice opaque lip gloss. It's comfortable to wear but does transfer on to cups and glasses. I also had to make sure I blotted the inside of my lips because I was getting some on my teeth. But that's the small pay off for being so long wearing and I think this was just because I had the lip oil on top.

I'm definitely going to be trying out more NYX products if this liquid lipstick is anything to go by. I'm impressed and I love this colour. £6.50 from Boots.

    1. It's a perfect colour for trying out this type of liquid lipstick, it's quite subtle but you can definitely build it up.

    1. Thanks Vicky. Hopefully because NYX seems so popular here Boots will get more stock in. I'd love to go to one of their counters to see all the colours in the flesh. I did luck out with this colour as it was just a guess!
