Day 3 of 24 Days of Beauty Advent Posts-Revlon Photoready Prime & Antishine

Day 3 is Revlon Photoready Prime & Anti-shine Balm. Who doesn't have a powder compact in their handbag, or blotting papers for that midday shine or a facial spray to freshen makeup? I have all three and use them. Having combination skin, I have the classic oily t-zone and I have tried all many of products to try and stop this. I've now accepted that I can't cure it or stop it, so I have to find products that help to alleviate the shine.

For me, powder compacts can be too powdery and whilst a dusting and setting of powder over foundation in the morning is good, to keep patting on powder throughout the day will just result in a heavy and powdery look to your face, as well as drying out skin. I also find that too much powder application can highlight any dry skin patches and spots.

Things to love about the Revlon Prime & Anti-shine balm are:

  1. The size of the compact, which will fit in to even the smallest handbag or even your pocket
  2. It's not a powder but a clear and transparent balm, so there's no fear of a powdery or cakey complexion no matter how often you dab this on
  3. You can apply this before make-up as a primer or on top to mattify and take away shine throughout the day or night. Or you can wear alone to smooth out your complexion
  4. It comes with a sponge applicator, which fits securely in to the compact
  5. The balm helps to minimise the look of pores

The balm does take away shine and without drying out skin or leaving a white cast, which can sometimes happen with powder compacts. It's a shame the compact doesn't have a mirror but to be fair you can easily apply this all over without the needing to look in a mirror. I pat the balm in using the sponge applicator rather than rubbing, and patting means you won't disturb your make up.

Great for everyday use and even better for nights out and a discreet touch up.
£9.99 from Boots or Superdrug.
