Four Coral Red Lipsticks for Holiday

It seems we are well and truly in to holiday season with work colleagues and friends jetting off to warmer and sunnier climes. And with holidays comes the inevitable buying of new holiday clothes, shoes and bags. And even though I've done the same, I've decided that there is a cheaper and easier way to brighten up your holiday look - lipstick.

I'm not really adventurous when it comes to bright lipsticks but there's something about being in another country, with the heat and the sun shining and the balmy nights that make me want to throw caution to the mind and wear a bright(ish) lip.

When I think of what shade of lipstick to wear on holiday, for me, it has to be a coral red. The orange tones in this bright yet wearable colour not only brighten up any outfit, it also brightens your complexion, makes you look even more tanned and your teeth white.

I've got two new lipsticks and two that I've had for a while. With a coral red you can either wear it as a wash of colour by dabbing over your lips with your finger or ramp it up for a full on opaque colour by applying a few layers and blotting with tissue in between.

Seventeen Supreme Shine Lipstick in Hot Flash (Boots £4.99)
This creamy, rich lipstick is a great one for a one application sheer wash of colour or layering up with a few coats for a more intense colour.

Collection Matt Lip Butter in Pumpkin Pie (Boots £2.99)
This is a matt texture so you need to make sure your lips are smooth and moisturised. Mine weren't, so this did apply in bits. Which is a real shame as I love the colour and a chunky lip pencil is so easy. I'll try again when I've exfoliated my lips.

Clinique Long last Lipstick in Runway Coral (£19.50)
The photo really doesn't do the shade of this long lasting and moisturising lipstick justice. I feel bold when I wear this in the UK and it really does brighten up your face but without the intense-ness of a red lip.

Tanya Burr Cosmetics in Christmas Stocking
Now I know the name of this is a bit off putting at this time of the year and it implies it is a traditional red but it isn't. It is a red but has orange coral undertones. What I love about this matte lipstick is how quick drying it is and it is a proper matt, dead flat texture. Once it's on, it's on. I really struggled to get this off.

I'm afraid I don't think you can get this shade at the moment as it was a Christmas edition but I wanted to show you how wearing a matt coral red lip will look fab on holiday and will last all night, and probably well in to lunchtime, and sangrias by the pool..

  2. Ohhhh I love the Clinique one, such a pretty colour. The corals really suit your skin tone. I cant get away with an orangey coral, Im too pale, but a more reddy coral works. I reckon the clinique one could make its way into my collection.....

    1. I must admit I was a bit shocked at the cost of the Clinique one as was talked in to it by the woman on the counter but the quality of the texture and shade stands out, so was worth it.
      Thanks for your comment Kerry.
