Gingham Style

Oppa Gingham Style..
There surely isn't anyone in the world that isn't partial to a bit of gingham. This simple check has been in and out of fashion for as long as I can remember. And for me I love gingham because it reminds me of my summer school uniform of a light blue gingham dress. I loved that dress, I didn't care that it was actually uniform. Maybe it's because wearing the summer uniform gingham dress signaled the start of proper summer days and a summer that really did last from June until September.

Gingham is back in again and I, for one, am rejoicing. Although it has to be said I always have a bit of gingham in my wardrobe, like eye shadow palettes, I cannot walk past gingham without going back and checking it out.

This week I added to my gingham pieces with this Primark peplum cotton shirt.

Worn with black skinny jeans, I think they set off the black gingham and lets the peplum do what it needs to do, without making this outfit look too fussy or busy. I only picked this shirt up this week in Primark, so it's still available and is £10. Would also look amazing with a leather (ish) pencil skirt.

I've had this Topshop gingham smock dress for a couple of years but because gingham is everywhere at the mo, I have seen a very similar style dress on ASOS**

Again simple styling with this dress and I wear it with black tights, ankle boots and the cross body bag just helps to keep the dress down, and not looking like I'm expecting! This smock style dress is so comfortable to wear and also great in the summer worn without tights. It has pockets too.

You might have seen this Zara top as featured in my Birthday Haul post and I still love it so much and it ticks the gingham and embroidered trends. Sadly, this is no longer available on the Zara site but if you're after a gingham shirt with embroidered flowers, try THIS.

I got this gingham shirt in the New Look sale but ASOS** have a near identical one. I have to admit to putting this shirt on lots of times and then taking it off again, because I wasn't sure how to wear it, without looking like a cowboy! I think I might have solved this now by styling it with this Zara faux leather mini skirt and it's actually how the model on the site is wearing it. I've knotted the shirt at the front and left the shirt un-tucked at the back, because I'm crazy like that.

I hope this has inspired you to check out (!) all things gingham and sing op op oppa gingham style.
