Christmas Lipsticks (not the traditional reds!)

christmas lipsticks
If you're anything like me, for 11 months of the year, you'll be sporting a nude lipstick. Maybe sometimes a darkish nude. But come December, the month of all things bright and glittery, glam make up, parties and sparkle, we'll want to venture out of our nude comfort zone and flash a bright lip. Because if you can't at Christmas time, then when can you?!

Wearing a bright red is quite scary for me, so I've picked 5 lipsticks that are still bold and perfect for the Christmas season and not as high maintenance as a bright red.
1. Lippy Girl Vegan Lipstick**  in shade Fancy Pants - £12.50
I've never tried a vegan lipstick before and this 100% natural, vegetarian, vegan, eco and animal friendly formula has a creamy finish. The shade Fancy Pants is a sweet pink which catches the light in a subtle shimmery way. Made with certified organic Caster Seed Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Carnuba wax and Shea Butter and natural mineral pigments, this will keep lips super soft and hydrated.

2. Clinique Long Lasting Lipstick in shade Runway Coral - £18.50
This was my first foray in to a bright lipstick. The Clinique lady persuaded me and when I looked in the mirror, I thought I looked like a clown. But persuaded by the Daughter, I bought it (I did then spend the next few weeks regretting spending £18.50 on a lipstick) but the few times I've worn this, I've had compliments and I've secretly enjoyed it.

3. Collection Lip Butter in shade Perfect Plum - £2.99
This is silly cheap but you still get a quality, easy to apply, pigmented, soft and creamy chubby lipstick pencil. I love this true plum colour.

4. Lord & Berry Vogue Lipstick in Red
This is a mini that came with the Birchtree from Bloom & Wild and unfortunately this shade is sold out everywhere on line. Shows how popular it is. This is a coral red and is matte, so you need to have moisturised lips pre-application and use a lip liner and then you've got a stunning colour.

5. Tanya Burr Lipgloss in Candy Cane
Can be worn alone or on top of a lipstick. This wash of candy pink has subtle glitter in it and will stay put for ages. One application gives you a sheer coverage or layer up for a more intense colour. You can get this and another lipgloss in a special Christmas set for £5.00 from Superdrug.
Come on everyone, let's brave a bright lip.
