September 2016 Favourites

september favourites
I almost didn't do a favourites for this month because I thought I didn't have any "stand out" items but then when I thought about it, I do have some things which I have been enjoying, not just this month but for quite a while. Well apart from the hot water thing.. that is a new thing for me!

1. Make up
I received the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara in the September Glossybox and was keen to try out this much hyped about mascara. People seem to either love it or hate it, no middle ground. I... LOVE it. I never thought I would find a mascara to rival the Maybelline Lash Sensational but this has. I love the wand - shaped like a Blonde (or Brunette!) Bombshell silhouette, the brush grips lashes and curls them in one sweep. I don't find the formula clumpy and my lashes appear lengthened and full. The full size version is £19.00, and I'll definitely be going for it once this travel size runs out.

2. Skincare
The current beauty water/hydrating spritzer that I'm using is Colleen Rothschild Beauty Water. I really like this but as it's quite pricey, when I finish this there are lots of other great drugstore alternatives I'll try. I use a facial mist after cleansing and before a serum and moisturiser. I also have the Tony Moly Bunny Mist in my handbag and I spritz this on half way through the day to freshen up my make up and hydrate my skin. You might think this is an unnecessary add to your routine, as I did, but it is so quick and easy to use a spray. They are refreshing and a great addition to your skincare routine.
Collen Rothschild Beauty Water is £20.00 from Beauty Bay.com but Superdrug do alternatives, such as the Vitamin E Toning Facial Mist for £2.99.

3. Food
Confession time - I have an ice cream every day. After my dinner. There I've said it.
My current favourite is Cadbury's Dairy Milk Buttons. Think of a Cornetto but with milk buttons. These are delicious. I don't know how may calories they are. Nor do I care.
Currently £2.00 for a box of 4 cones or two boxes for £3.00 from Ocado. Try them!

4. Misc
Drinking hot water. Yes hot water. Hear me out.
This gem came via my sister who was told about the benefits of drinking hot water from a Chinese Acupuncturist. Obviously at first I thought my sister was mad but she kept saying how nice it was drinking (tea hot) boiled water, she said it almost tasted sweet. So I thought I'd give it a go. And she's right, it's nice. I now prefer a cup of hot water over tea. And here's why and what it aids:

  • weight loss
  • digestion
  • detoxify the body
  • improves blood circulation
  • slows down ageing
  • eases constipation
  • healthy, clearer skin
  • healthy hair
  • relieves coughs and sore throats
  • menstrual cramps/stomach cramps
  • dandruff

5. Fashion
My fashion favourite for the past 6 weeks has been my ever so useful, perfectly sized back pack/ruck sack from George in Asda. Not only does it look quite stylish and not at all like a sporty rucksack, it is comfortable to wear and has loads of room to fit all sorts of stuff in. And it zips across the opening, under the flap, so its nice and secure. Still available from George, it's £14.00.

So there's my favourites. Let me know if you try the hot water. Or the ice creams!

  1. That bag is so cute! Been looking for a leather rucksack for ages but can't find one that's just me! Drinking hot water is something I have never heard of! I'm a huge tea enthusiast so don't know if I'll like it but might give it a try!

    1. Hi Catriona. Finding the right rucksack is tricky isn't it. I find a lot of them are too bulky but this one is great. And I know what you mean about hot water. I love tea but there's something about drinking hot water that feels comforting.

  2. Lovely favourites! That backpack is really pretty! I just ordered one for myself recently (still waiting for it to come in). Hopefully it's as nice quality as yours! :)

    1. Hi Nicola
Backpacks are so easy aren't they. I like that your hands are still free. Hope yours arrives soon

  4. Hot water & lemon is also a morning staple for me & weirdly (or maybe not weirdly!?) I drink plain warm water when I have a cough, someone told me it relaxes the throat muscles & helps you stop coughing! Also loving the mascara but I'm having real trouble getting it off, nothing I have seems to remove it, what do you use?

    1. I do a double cleanse. So I use a micellar water first and use this on a cotton pad to soak the bulk off. Then massage a cleansing balm all over and onto lashes. This does the trick for me.
