Glasses Direct - Designer Glasses at supermarket prices

glasses direct
It was that time again when I was due my two yearly eye test and I decided that sod it, I've worn reading glasses for years now, all day at work, and it was about time I treated myself to some glasses that I would be proud to be seen in. I wanted some Ray-Ban glasses. I've watched many videos of Caroline Hirons (UK beauty blogger/skincare expert) wearing hers and I really like the shape and also because I love Ray Ban sunglasses.

But I was shocked when I saw that Ray Ban specs at Boots and other high street opticians start at £210.00! What to do.. and then I remembered Glasses Direct. A UK based online optician.

Glasses Direct
Glasses Direct was set up by Jamie Murray Wells in 2004 after he wanted to find a way to bring down the astronomical cost of prescription glasses, and he did. Glasses Direct has grown steadily from Jamie's parent's front room to a full warehouse, call centre and optical team. This really is a David and Goliath story as Jamie full on waged war against the huge Specsavers chain, when they tried to bring his new business down. They didn't succeed.

Ordering
The whole process of online ordering was so quick, easy and straightforward. Most of the frames you can actually get sent to you for a try on at home trial. Unfortunately this does not include the Boutique range but they have a no quibble returns policy so I wasn't worried about not being able to try on the frames before buying.

Armed with my latest prescription, I chose the frames I wanted and then popped in my lens measurements. Four days later my glasses were delivered. And as well as the speedy delivery, the DHL courier called me to see if I was at home because the address wasn't coming up on his sat nav, when I said I was at work but this was only a five minute drive away, he brought them to my work. What a lovely man and much more helpful than Parcel Force, who have taken to leaving my parcels with neighbours and not leaving me a card. Helpful.

Ray Ban
So I went for these Ray Ban in shiny black. You can see them here at Glasses Direct. (I did take a full frame photo but it was too blurry to show you - guess why? I wasn't wearing my glasses!).

I love that these are the classic Ray Ban shape and the detail on the arms.

Cost
These same frames are £230.00 at Boots Optician. Glasses Direct are £98.00!
I went for the Silver package, which is only an extra £12.00 for a scratch resistant and anti-reflection coating. Delivery on Boutique frames is also free.

Money off
Check out Glasses Direct website to see their full range and offers. And if you spend over £55.00, you can get £30.00 off your order by using this link https://glassesdirect.mention-me.com/m/ol/mso-julie-jenkins-66
