Superdrug B skincare Day Cream and Facial Oil - is this right for my age?

B phase 2 day cream
When I need a new facial moisturiser, I always see what's on offer from one of the skincare brands in the supermarket. I do try to go for a moisturiser which is aimed at my combination/age spotted/fine lined/rather dull skin but this is a tall order I know. The thing is I find a lot of the packaging for moisturisers a bit overwhelming, there is so much information on the box, so many ingredients and so many promises. It's off-putting.

I had heard that Superdrug do their own line of skincare called B which is specifically aimed at age ranges - there are 4 skin phases:

  • Phase 1 - 20 and 30's
  • Phase 2 - late 30 and 40's
  • Phase 3 - late 40 and 50's
  • Phase 4 - 50+ onwards
I wanted to try this range for a while now and I know it sounds ridiculous but every time I went into Superdrug, I didn't have my glasses on me and didn't want to pick up the wrong age range for me! So I was really pleased when I was sent the phase 2 Day Cream and Facial Oil to try out. I've been using the day cream every day for the past few weeks and the facial oil 3-4 times a week, at night.

The day cream is a dream. It comes in a weighty glass jar, looks great in the bathroom and is a luxurious feeling thick cream. Initially I thought it would be too creamy for my combination skin but it's been working just fine. More than fine actually. I can honestly say I've noticed a difference in my skin. I have previously spoken of my deep frown line, which I thought could only be solved with botox but this very obvious furrow appears less so. The deep line seems to have plumped out and to me is certainly not as noticeable. I really believe this has been helped by this day cream. Because at last I am using an age appropriate moisturiser. And I've realised that your moisturiser should target your fine lines/anti-aging, your primer should look after your shine and your make up is for your glow. Although this day cream when I put it on does give me an instant glow. Some mornings, after applying, my face is so glowy I have given some serious thought to going make up free for the day!

The box for this day cream says it "measurably reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles in just 4 weeks whilst helping to boost skin radiance". Yes it does. On both counts. Oh and it has SPF 15 in it. And it's currently half price at Superdrug at £5.95.
B Facial Oil
The B phase 2 antioxidant boost facial oil is a light oil which I use at night, sometimes on its own or before my night cream of choice, although you can of course use it in the morning. The oil is easy to apply and works really well when giving yourself a facial massage to get the blood flowing. This oil has left my skin soft and hydrated. There are many expensive facial oils out there but this just shows you do not need to spend silly money to get good results. This oil is also currently half price at £6.95 at Superdrug.

The B range is also cruelty free. I love that I can now get everything I need for my skin, within my age group and knowing that what I am buying is targeted specifically at what my skin needs. And in easy to understand packaging, glasses or no glasses, I'm phase 2 (for now!) and that's all I need to know.

Thanks for reading my 50th blog post. I really hope you are enjoying reading my posts as much as I am enjoying researching and writing them.

Much love.
