Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

Bourjois healthy mix foundation
I've really enjoyed using the Bourjois Air Mat foundation but recently discovered that I had been using a shade that was too dark for me. This was totally my fault and I hadn't noticed as I was wearing the Air Mat during the darker winter months. Hopefully no one else did too!

I'd heard good things about the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation and drawn in by the claims of it giving a "healthy glow and flawless complexion for up to 16 hours" and "hydrated and luminous skin", I decided to give it go. This time I took my time, accepted that my skin tone is actually a lot paler than I picture it to be and went for the shade 52 Vanilla. There's 8 shades in the range but unfortunately my local Boots only had 3 shades but luckily this one is a good match for me at the moment.

This is a light liquid which blends in well. The texture is very smooth and applies like a light moisturiser, it doesn't stick to any dry patches either. The bottle comes with a pump, which all foundations should do.

The first few days I used this, I loved it. I used it with the Barry M Brightening Primer (which I blogged about here) and I was really impressed with how fresh faced I looked. But after nearly 2 weeks of using this, I think this foundation isn't high enough cover for me. I would definitely say this is light to medium coverage. And if that's what you want, this is the foundation for you because it gives you a light coverage, so your skin still looks like your skin but your skin tone is evened out and more naturally perfect.

I can't comment on whether this foundation lasts 16 hours. When I got home from work, and checked in my magnified mirror, I really couldn't see the foundation at all but I think this is because it is a light coverage. It hadn't collected around my nose which is a big plus point and I'm tending to wear less foundation now and more concealer anyway so it's lightness is not an issue for me at the moment. I feel like this is doing my skin some good. I suppose because its not a thick consistency and I don't feel like its blocking up my skin.

If you're also looking for a good face powder the Bourjois Healthy Balance powder (£8.99) is really good. I've just hit pan on mine and in my excitement that I'd actually nearly used a product all up, I dropped it on the floor...  hence no photo!

The Healthy Mix Foundation is £9.99.

What high street foundations do you rate - particularly high coverage ones?

  1. I really like this but unfortunately it is too yellow toned for my very pink skin, I like the Rimmel wake me up, it isn't a full coverage but it's buildable, it is a nice foundation though :) xxx
