Monochrome Fashion Try on Haul

I had one of those rare occasions when I wasn't looking for any new clothes but came across a few great finds, some of them in the sales as well. What a result. I didn't even realise until I got home that everything I had bought was black and white. So here is my first try on monochrome haul.
Topshop stripped dress
I love stripes and this dress from Topshop caught my eye for many reasons; the stripes, the price (in the sale at £12 down from the original price of £29), the long sleeves and the best bit - the twisted, knot tie which hides a multitude of sins (and a big lunch!). This dress is made from a super soft cotton and is really comfortable to wear. I've paired this casual dress with my Topshop slip on shoes which I got last spring but they still have them in store.
Topshop top H&M bottoms
I always wear jeans but lately I've been finding them uncomfortable and wanted some casual trousers that could be worn in the same way you do with jeans. These trousers from H&M were just what I was visualising. I'm going to categorise these as outdoor slouchies. So you know your slouchy trousers that you wear in the privacy of your own home, and how comfy they are - these are just as comfy but they're a bit smarter, so you can wear them outside! I think the glossy mags would call this a sports luxe look. As you can see these bottoms have pockets (every item of clothing should be made with pockets) and they are made in a waffle type texture with a elasticated waist and draw string detail. £12.99.

I'm still researching what sort of top to wear with the outdoor slouchy, I'm thinking a loose shirt, one side tucked in.. But for now I've teamed with this Top Shop striped top, £20. This top is ridiculously soft, even after a few washes. A great basic.
Primark shirt dress
This shirt dress with pussy bow tie from Primark at £13 is going to be great for work or worn with a cropped leather jacket for a night out. This was my favourite buy from this haul.
M&S shirt Next culottes
I bought these culottes from Next for a visit to a trendy restaurant in London. I was channelling my inner Victoria Beckham, who I thought I might see there. Sadly not. I tried on about 6 pairs of different culottes in Next, which goes to show how popular they are again. I love this pair, which have pockets and are more tailored and fit really well. £22.
M&S blouse
This cute blouse I picked up in the M&S sale, from their Limited Edition range (love that range). £12.00. This top looks just as good paired with jeans for a smart casual look or as work wear. I love the elasticated cuffs too.

So there you have my first try on post.  Let me know what you think.

  1. Your blog is costing me a lot of money! I want all of it!!

  2. Really enjoyed this, who doesn't love a touch of 'Primani'?! Think my fave is the M&S blouse!
