Eve Lom Cleanser - worth the splurge?

Eve Lom Cleanser

This 100ml pot of cleansing balm is £55.00! You heard me right, £55.00.  So first, a disclaimer - I did not purchase this myself.  My daughter received this as a Christmas present from her Dad.  I assume it was a panic buy as an 18 year old with her perfectly flawless, baby soft skin does not need a £55.00 cleanser.  She is and remains completely happy with a Boots own brand face wipe!

So because waste is bad and unused beauty products, especially such a cult classic is sacrilege, and in the name of research, I have been using this.  And oh my goodness I adore it.  Damn it.

The balm in the pot is not as hard as my beloved Clinique Take the Day off (see my previous post on this here) and has a slight sugary consistency to it.  Just like the Clinique, you warm the balm between your fingers to melt it and then apply to your face, massaging the balm, which then turns to oil over your face.  This effortlessly removes all traces of make up, including eye make up.  Using the muslin cloth, which you rinse through warm water, you then wipe the oil from your face.  And your face glistens.  In a good way.  This is an absolute treat in a jar.  It feels luxurious and because of the balm to oil texture, you naturally give yourself a facial massage whilst removing your make up.

Vogue hailed this as "probably the best cleanser in the world" and I'm not going to argue with Vogue.

So is it worth the splurge? Yes, I'm afraid it is.  It is everything you imagine a £55.00 cleanser to be, and to be fair this pot will last you a few months, so cost per wear...
But would I pay for it?  No, of course not.  Who can spend that on a cleanser, especially when there are really good alternatives for less than half the price of this.
But oh my what a pleasure it was to be able to use this.

When I finish this, it's going to be like leaving an extravagant 5 star hotel at the end of a wonderful holiday.

  3. Hi, although this one is an award winner, I'm with you on the price but it is one of the best out there & it's a huge size. Even so, there are plenty of fab ones out there for a bit less. Oh my, sorry but I cringe at your daughter using cleansing wipes as they are no good for the skin, always good to start great skincare at a young age..I wish my Dad had bought me that kind of gift as a young woman though! :)
