La Roche-Posay Effaclar BB Blur

I have to admit I'm not really a big fan of BB creams in winter as I need the fuller coverage that you can only get from a foundation.  Summer time, yeah sure, especially once I have a bit of tan on my face, then I like to lay off the heavier coverage and go with a BB cream.

So when I heard about a BB Cream that gives a medium coverage and due to the oil absorbing ingredients blurs out pores and keeps you shine free all day and has a SPF, I had to give it a go (especially as Escentual have an offer on selling it for £11.00 instead of the usual £16.50).

La Roche-Posay Effaclar BB Blur only come in 2 shades - Fair/Light and Light/Medium, so I went for the Light/Medium.  This shade is actually a good match for me and the mousse like texture is interesting in a not unpleasant way.  It feels like it will apply and blend in very easily.  It didn't!

I've tried applying this with a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and my fingers but none of these techniques worked for me.  I had to do a lot of blending in of this, otherwise, light base and even after blending, it just seemed to sit on top of my skin.  It also collected around the side of my nose, which, granted, is a key oily area for me but this product has been specifically designed for oily skin.  Every time I have worn this, by lunchtime, my face is very shiny and worse than that I have developed a nice whitehead on the side of my nose!

I tried powder with this BB Blur and without, because I really wanted to love this, I really did and I have read a few good reviews from well respected bloggers but for me, in winter, this doesn't work.
Maybe my combination skin confuses this product, because whilst it didn't keep my shiny t-zone at bay, it also clung to a dry patch I currently have on my chin and a dry forehead (due to wooly hat wearing).

I will give it a go again in the summer, as I like that it has SPF 20, so you get your sun protection but with some coverage but for now I've gone running back to my Bourjois Air Mat Foundation (featured in my 2015 beauty heroes).

Let me know if you've tried this BB Blur and if I'm just not using it right!

Thanks for reading. x
