Birchbox. January 2016, Pinterest.

Beauty box subscriptions.  Who doesn't love a delivery to work or home to brighten up your day, especially when it's full of treats just for you.

I first tried a subscription box with Graze - a box full of healthy-ish snack treats.  This was great but not when you end up devouring the whole box within the first hour of it being delivered!

Then I moved on to My Little Box (link here), this is a box which is delivered monthly and has 5-6 beauty, fashion and lifestyle treats in it.  It's a great box and beautifully presented but I really wanted more of the beauty bits, so I subscribed to Birchbox (link here).

With nearly all the beauty boxes, and there are many, you can choose what subscription you want - I always go for the pay monthly, unsubscribe at any time option.  For this you pay £12.95, including p&p.

This month's Birchbox is a collaboration with Pinterest and the box is really pretty.  All items come in a cardboard box, and inside a draw string bag.

This months box comes with 6 treats to kick start your year off, and a small handbag sized mirror.

You get:

Parlor moisturising and repairing shampoo and conditioner.

No Filter mirror.

Absolution cleansing water. Like a micellar water, use on a cotton pad to remove make up.

Whish Body Butter.

Jelly Pong Pong Lighten up Brightener and Waterliner.  Use this on your water line to brighten up tired eyes or use on your cheek or brow bone as a highlighter.

Benefit They're Real Tinted Primer.  Either use on its own as a mascara, or apply one coat before your usual mascara for extra va va voom!

All of these products are sample sizes, which is fine because you get enough to try the product out and then you can order the full size from the Birchbox website.

I'm really excited about trying out the Benefit Tinted Primer.  I'm not actually a fan of the They're Real mascara (my heart lies with another, see blog post here) but if it is actually possible to make my mascara even more voluminous, I'm game for trying.

And who doesn't want some help with bright eyes, especially on these dark January days, so I'm hoping the Jelly Pong Pong pencil is going to give me a wide awake look.

Beauty boxes are a great way to gift yourself and try out new products for the same price as 2 magazines and Wispa, oh and make your work colleagues jealous when your box arrives once a month.

Thanks for reading.

  1. Pinterest is my new favourite thing, so I love the idea behind this. I used to get birch box but always felt disappointed with it!

    1. Thanks for your comment Corinne. I've changed to Glossybox now. Sorry to see you had a breakage in yours though! x
