Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

How do you apply your foundation?  Personal question I know but if its with your fingers, you need to stop.  Now.

I used to use a foundation brush, a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush http://www.boots.com/en/Real-Techniques-Expert-Face-Brush_1277695/ and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.  Using brushes to apply your make up really does make application a pleasure rather than a chore.  And the finish you get is almost flawless.

But if you want flawless, you need to try the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge http://www.boots.com/en/Real-Techniques-Miracle-Complexion-Sponge_1389470/ .  This little egg shaped sponge is a more affordable and easily attainable dupe for the original Beauty Blender sponge (which is 3 times the price of the Real Techniques sponge).

The sponge is actually really clever and like several brushes in one.  You have the main rounded side of the sponge, I use this side to apply foundation to my face in a wiping and dabbing motion.  The flat top side I use to blend out any remaining foundation, and the pointed end I use to dab in concealer.

When you unpack this sponge, you will think it is too small but what you have to do to use it is thoroughly wet it with water, and then squeeze all the water out, so the sponge is just slightly damp.  I also squeeze a flannel around the sponge to help remove any excess water.  By wetting the sponge, it will increase in size and the minimal amount of water that's left traps in the tiny pores of the sponge, which then stops any foundation, concealer etc from sinking in to the sponge.  I give the sponge a good drenching and squeezing every other day, and I keep the sponge sat in the plastic tray it comes in so that it keeps clean.

The dabbing motion that you use with this sponge means you'll be left with a flawless, smooth and completely blended in base.

This sponge is a game changer.  And it's only £5.99
