2015 Beauty Heroes

In 2015 I:

  • discovered You Tube Beauty Vloggers and then Beauty Blogs
  • became really, really interested in make up and skincare
  • embraced the power and confidence you can get from "putting your face on"
  • refused to fade in to the background just because my skin is not taut, wrinkle and age-spot free
I've started this blog because, frankly I have a lot of spare time on my hands!  But also because there's a lot of us out there who love make up, pampering ourselves with skincare products and just keeping up to date with the latest trends.  And if I can save you a bit of time and money by reviewing products that I've bought and tried myself, I'm a happy gal!

I've picked 10 items which I have been using for at least the last 6 months, so they're definitely tried and tested and my 2015 heroes.

1. Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, read my previous post

2. Mitchum 48hr roll on anti-antiperspirant deodorant, £2.00.  I threw my first purchase of this away as I wasn't used to it taking quite a while to dry but then when I went back to my old deodorant, it just wasn't cutting the mustard, so I bought another bottle of Mitchum.  Maybe my first one was a duff as I'm now used to the drying time, and this really does last all day, even when I've been in some quite tense situations!

3. L'Oreal Infallible 24h matte foundation, £7.99.  To say I have a shiny T-zone is an understatement but this foundation really is mattifying without drying your face out.  I'm on my second tube of this, its that good.  I also tried the matching primer, which is also very good, although has quite a silicone texture.

4. Kiko long lasting eyeshadow stick, £3.90 (sale), shade 39 dark taupe.  I have never worn eyeliner or been able to do a smoky eye.  Before this stick.  The eyeshadow is so creamy, it applies softly and glides on and a little goes a long way.  I then use a smudge eye brush to blend it out for either a subtle line or a more obvious smoky eye.

5.  Rimmel brow this way styling gel, £3.99, shade 003 dark brown.  This is a coloured eyebrow gel.  It makes your eyebrows look fuller and keeps them in place, all day and night.  You need this.  There are 3 shades - blonde, mid brown, dark brown and then a clear gel.  The brush is small and precise.  This little gel has saved me and my unruly brows.

6. Clinique take the day off cleansing balm, read my previous post here

7. Real Techniques miracle complexion sponge, read my post here
(can't live without this baby, I've got 3 new ones stacked up!)

8 & 9. Real Techniques powder brush, £10.99 and expert face brush, £8.99.  Real Techniques are amazing brushes, super soft bristles, lovely to use and wash really well. The powder brush is a big domed brush which is perfect for face powder and bronzer.  Use the expert face brush for applying foundation.  It gives you a completely blended in, flawless finish, and is a real treat to use.

10. Bourjois air mat foundation, £9.99, shade 04 beige.  I know this is the second foundation in my top 10 but I had to include it.  It is another brilliantly mat but not drying foundation.  But this, for me, is a lighter more medium coverage foundation.  It gives a fresh, brightening look.

Here's looking towards 2016 and more discoveries.  Happy New Year everyone, and thanks for reading. x
